HNB Pathum Vimana the premier savings rewards programme in the banking industry in Sri Lanka completed a stellar year recording its highest ever deposit mobilisation in the programme's history. The longest running deposit rewards scheme, launched in 1993, completed its 21st year in 2013 with billions in new deposits mobilised.
Conceptualised to reward savers and incentivise the savings habit, the premier rewards programme has, so far, produced a total of 222,551 winners with total prize value of prizes given out in excess of Rs. 1.4 billion.
Revamped and revitalised annually, the computerised lottery scheme has generated the biggest interest in a banking product accepting to the renowned research agency AC Nielsen. The survey conducted by Nielsen showed that HNB Pathum Vimana had the highest recall for the brand as a banking product from among a field of competitors.
With eligibility at a minimum deposit or account balance of just Rs. 10,000, In addition to the minimum balance offering a single chance at the monthly and year-end draws, every multiple of Rs. 10,000 granted the account holder a further chance at the draws.
The Year end Grand and Premium Draws saw account holders being rewarded with luxury cars and houses (or cash). In total, gifts so far have included 56 houses, 24 luxury cars, 101 motor cars, 365 tractors, 36 three-wheelers, 324 motor bikes and millions in cash.
As the first commercial bank in Sri Lanka to offer such a scheme to customers, HNB's brand image and stature have got stronger considerably owing to the Pathum Vimana brand.
HNB has been recognised by Banker Magazine UK as the Bank of the Year for two years consecutively for 2012 and 2013, and was named the Best Retail Bank in Sri Lanka by the Asian Banker Magazine for six years consecutively from 2008 to 2013.
This year, the top reward scheme promises to be bigger and better with a new outlook and a prize structure for all.
