HNB recognized for excellence in training and development

Hatton National Bank (HNB) PLC was awarded the prestigious 'Excellence in Training and Development Award' an overall award for best results-based training, at the Asia's Training and Development Excellence Awards 2013, held recently in Singapore.

Organized by the Human Resources Development Management Committee of the World HRD Congress, this is the only event of its kind in South Asia that gives public recognition for achievement in training and development to individuals as well as companies.

Asia's Training and Development Excellence Awards are presented in around 40 countries across Asia and the winners of other categories are giants in the region such as Hindustan Unilever Ltd. Zurich Insurance (Hong Kong), Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Ltd. Coca Cola Beverages Sri Lanka Ltd to name a few. HNB's Senior Manager, Learning and Development, Ms Manaram Rambukwella who accepted the award on behalf of HNB said, "This prestigious award will strengthen the reputation of HNB's best practices in the field of training and development and will also further strengthen the employer brand within the business community at large.

Ms Chiranthi Cooray- AGM Human Resources of HNB further elaborated on the benefits that can be gained by the HRD and training professionals of the bank: "This award is a good example of HNB's commitment to invest in people. We are keen to drive high performance and productivity through capability enhancement of our staff. HNB's return on investment (ROI) in training is clearly established by securing the overall award amongst many global companies, for results based training. "

HNB was recognized for their excellence in training and development in many occasions and this is the second time that the bank is wining a global award. Some of the recent recognitions were Asia's Best Employer Awards for "excellence in training in year 2012 ,Silver award at the HRM awards organized by the HRP, Sri Lanka in year 2012.

The very success of HNB over the years has been its employees. From its inception in 1888, the Bank has nurtured financial and banking specialists who in turn have contributed towards the development of Sri Lanka's banking industry.

Being one of the largest private commercial banks in the country, HNB is the first Sri Lankan bank to obtain an international credit rating and has been assigned a foreign currency issuer rating of B1 on par with the sovereign rating of Sri Lanka.

Further, HNB was adjudged the "Bank of the year in Sri Lanka for 2012" by 'The Banker' magazine, and is the recipient of the Best Retail Bank in Sri Lanka award for six consecutive years awarded by the Asian Banker magazine.
