SRI LANKA BANKS’ ASSOCIATION SIGNS MOUs WITH ASIAN BANKERS ASSOCIATION & BANKERS ASSOCIATION OF THE REPUBLIC OF CHINA
Recently the Chairman of the Sri Lanka Banks’ Association and Managing Director of Hatton National Bank, Mr. R. Theagarajah, in a landmark event, entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Asian Bankers Association (ABA) as well as the Bankers Association of the Republic of China (BAROC). The Chair person of the ABA Ms. Susan S. Chang signed on behalf of the two institutions.
The ABA currently has a membership of over 100 of the leading banks from 23 countries in the Asia Pacific Region. Mr. Theagarajah is also the Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the ABA.
Under this MOU the three Associations will endeavor to promote mutual exchange of information and co-operation including analysis of financial potential and identify all possibilities and opportunities for Sri Lanka and member countries of the ABA, to realize joint projects. In addition, co-operation in the area of training of officers through joint forums, workshops, conferences and seminars will be considered. Another important proviso of the MOU is for member institutions to develop ways and means to exchange economic, business and financial information, for mutual benefit.
