Non Resident Non National Foreign Currency Account (NRNNFC)



Eligibility

  • Non national either on temporary visit to Sri Lanka or intending to visit Sri Lanka.

Opening of Account

  • Accounts under this scheme should be opened only in the domestic banking unit, and should be in the form of non-checkable or Savings in designated Foreign Currency.
  • When such accounts are opened it is advisable to obtain a letter of introduction from the Bank at which the prospective account holder maintains an account overseas.

Permitted Credits to the Account

  • Inward Remittances received in favour of the account holder.
  • Foreign currency in the form of travelers' cheques, bank draft or designated foreign currency notes brought into the country by the account holder on declaration to Sri Lanka Customs as applicable during visitor's temporary visits to Sri Lanka and tendered to the bank, provided that the traveler's cheques have been issued outside Sri Lanka and the bank drafts in foreign currency endorsed in the name of the account holder.
  • Interest accrued to the account in foreign currency.
  • Transfers from FCBU account of the account holder or the company on whose behalf temporary visit to Sri Lanka is undertaken.

Permitted Debits to the Account

  • Outward Remittances
  • Withdrawals in foreign currency
  • Withdrawals in Sri Lanka Rupees for local disbursements.
