Exporters Foreign Currency Accounts (EFC)

An Exporters Foreign Currency Account can be opened by Merchandise Exporters registered with Export Development Board (EDB) in Sri Lanka.

How to open an EFC Account

1. Collect an account opening form from one of our Customer Centres.

2. Complete the form, sign and present it to a Customer Centre convenient to you, along with the Registration number provided by Export Development Board.

What credit is permitted to an EFC Account

• Only export proceeds are permitted

What debits can be made to an EFC Account?

• Settlement of import bills
• Outward remittances with respect to meeting claims by foreign buyers and reasonable commissions payable to agents abroad

Are there any restrictions on an EFC Account?

• Export proceeds cannot be credited to NRFC or RFC accounts
